THE statement bikini has been popping up all over Instagram this summer as influencers perfect their poolside poses. While women have been trying to avoid the dreaded tan lines for decades, the latest designs actually encourage them thanks to fiddly straps and awkward cut outs. Sheer bikinis have also become somewhat of a trend with Brazilian designer Adriana Degras offering up a range of see-through two pieces. Equally daring are Karen Hurley's designs from down under with flower appliques that cover nipples offering little in the way of modesty. The pouch bikini bottom has also proven to be a hit among bloggers and celebs alike, with the high-rise knicker leaving very little to the imagination. And while the two-piece received some flack, it has clearly had some serious fans with many influencers hoiking their bottoms up into a pouch. A far cry from your classic bather, these swimming costumes ramp up the sex appeal and are made up of very little fabric. A popular design among bloggers appears to be the keyhole design which features a large cut out panel and a high rise bottom. For me, putting on a bikini is already dancing dangerously close to public nudity. Giving us a blueprint in how to pull off this divisive trend, supermodel Bella Hadid colour-matched her skin tone with her skimpy design as she kicked on a private yacht. Similarly, Kim Kardashian also gave a nod to this racy style as she posed on a surfboard in a flesh-coloured two-piece on holiday earlier this year. Meanwhile, model Demi Rose went for a slightly darker hue for a "naked" bikini shoot in Spain.
